What the Community Wants from its Parks

In August, 2025, the City of Los Angeles published draft feedback of the community’s needs from over 16,000 acres of parkland managed by its Department of Recreation and Parks in over 500 sites. The Sepulveda Basin site is one of its largest.

Here is a summary of the key findings:

What this feedback tells us is that the residents of Los Angeles want many elements of our plan, including:

  • Special events and festivals
  • Nature experiences and environmental education
  • Unprogrammed greenspaces
  • Natural areas and wildlife habitat
  • Paved and non-paved multi-use trails
