Concerns for public safety and the common perception of public spaces as unsafe severely hinder our civic life. They prevent our citizens from congregating to get to know each other, celebrate our common values, and enjoy the beauty of our parks and natural environment.

A ranger station and security office, prominently located on the second floor of the Resilience/Interpretive Center and at the high point of Lake Balboa Park, will be key in keeping the area safe for the community and provide park rangers a vantage point to visually survey the entire basin. Its physical prominence will enhance the public perception of the park as a safe place to congregate and recreate.
